Marcus Lyon

Marcus is a British artist and social entrepreneur. He studied political science at Leeds and leadership at Harvard Business School.

He began his career with Amnesty International, working on commissions concerning street children in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. He has an international reputation as a conceptual landscape and portraiture artist and has photographed many public figures. His work on urban expansion and mass migration is collected by private and public institutions and exhibited globally including Detroit Institute of Arts, MAM Rio, Saatchi Gallery and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

Currently his main focus is his Human Atlas work, creating books and exhibitions that explore groups of significant change agents through portraits, ancestral DNA and sound. Alongside his governance work with Leaders’ Quest, Marcus has served on the boards of Somerset House Trust, one of Britain’s leading cultural institutes and the think-tank and advocacy network the Consortium for Street Children. He is also a founding Ambassador for Blesma, Photovoice, and Home Start UK. He and his Brazilian wife Bel currently live in London with their children Florence and Arthur.
